Some people just couldn’t get away with it

So there was this little girl who hails from the south. She was praised for her academic performance, and the fact that she dressed like a ustazah pilihan made people love her even more. Fast forward a few years, and that reputation crumbled in only a few minutes. Specifically, in a few minutes taken from the time people found her photos on an unrestricted Facebook profile, to the time it was passed around in Twitterjaya.

But on the other hand ;

a) It was as if dalam Malaysia ni, we are short of people with kampung background, got a chance to went out on her own, and drastically changed her appearance. Kat Uitm pun berlambak, susah-susah nak cari cerita sampai ke UK tu.. apa pasai?

b) It was as if changing the way someone look render them useless to the society. She worked/studied/whatever in a cancer research institute for god’s sake. I don’t mean to insult, but yeah, I wish those who lambasted her really would take this to heart… but no matter how ‘alim’ your appearance is, do you think your lifetime of keeping up that appearance would worth even more than one second this girl spend working on curing cancer?

c) It seems like the only way to find yourself is to go Gaga-esque yourself :/

d) This is specifically why we can’t have nice things. If I’m in her position, I wouldn’t even think of going back to a society so hostile towards someone just because she doesn’t dress like any respectable pekerja gahmen would.

Kesimpulannya, memang menyemakkan mata. But who cares? As long as she can function as a contributing member of the society, I wish her God speed, and hopefully those stinging remarks won’t get to her.
